Thank You Day

Amara's nothing day

Play this lessonNarrated out loud. No account, works offline.

Also available in Spanish. The app stops after two lessons a day and suggests something to do away from the screen.

What it teaches

These are the lines the lesson comes back to, and the ones a child actually remembers afterwards.

Small good things are easy to miss.

A thank you is better with a “for” in it.

How it starts

Story time. This is about a girl called Amara, who came home and said nothing good happened today. And her mum, who did not believe her for one second.

How the lesson goes

The three tiny things game

  1. Something that felt nice
  2. Something that made you smile
  3. Something somebody did for you

A thank you that lands

  1. Look at the person
  2. Say what they did
  3. Say why it mattered to you

Who you could thank today

  1. Whoever made your food
  2. Someone who helped you
  3. Someone who played with you

The question at the end

Grandpa fixed your bike. Which thank you lands best?

For the grown-up

Every lesson ends by handing the child something to do off the screen, and telling you what was taught so you can use the same words.

Try this today: At dinner tonight, thank one person for one small thing. Look at them and say: thank you for ___.

Then: Tell a grown-up your three tiny good things from today.
